The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will release the 2017 Census of Agriculture results today at noon eastern time.
The full Census report will include 6.4 million data points, including number of farms, land in farms, total value of production, demographics, and more at the national, state, and county levels.
This Census report will include new information on military service, food marketing practices, and on-farm decision-making. These additions help better capture the roles and contributions of beginning farmers, women farmers, and others involved in running a farm enterprise.
The Census will be available on the NASS website along with two census highlight publications on economics and demographics, several maps, ranking tables, and data highlight videos. Additional products, such as congressional district rankings and state and county profiles, will be available in coming weeks.
On Friday, April 12 at 1 p.m. eastern time join @USDA_NASS for and Ask the #AgCensus Experts #StatChat on Twitter. Open to the public, this session is the perfect time to ask any and all questions about the new census data.
