British Columbia report finds PRV poses ‘minimal risk’

Canada's Department of Fisheries and Ocean (DFO) has found that Atlantic salmon farms in the area of British Columbia's Discovery Island pose 'minimal' risk of transferring orthopiscine reovirus (PRV) to wild Fraser River stocks.

According to DFO, 33 experts as part of the Canadian Science Advisory Secretariat conducted a peer review process examining two scientific papers concerning PRV and salmon.
