Chile regulator updates sea lice control rules

Chile's National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service, Sernapesca, announced some changes to the rules concerning the use of treatments to combat sea lice (caligus), following a rise of the parasite in the country's waters.

During the first half of this year, there has been an increase in the presence of sea lice in Chile, especially in the regions of Los Lagos and Aysen, according to Marcela Lara, the assistant director of aquaculture at Sernapesca, even in areas that were previously characterized by low sea lice loads.
