Federal funds to boost aquaculture in Rio de Janeiro - BRAZIL

The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture (MPA) signed two agreements with the city of Angra dos Reis for a total of BRL 325,000 (USD 171,900) to encourage the development of aquaculture in the region of Costa Verde of R?o de Janeiro State.

One of those agreements has been signed for the creation of a production centre of bijupir? or cobia (Rachycentron canadum), which will have 10 tanks with a capacity to produce 36 tonnes of fish per year. The project also includes training for producers in Ilha Grande Bay.
