Norway identifies 11 potential new areas for aquaculture

Norway has identified a number of potential new sites for offshore aquaculture, according to an announcement by its directorate of fisheries. 

The government branch has mapped and identified areas more than one nautical mile off the coast -- still within its exclusive economic zone -- and has recommended 11 areas which may be relevant for impact assessments. Within these there are 27 "preliminary research areas" which will be further assessed. 

The survey was conducted using the Institute of Marine Research's reports on physical environmental conditions and ecosystem impacts, as well as information on salmon's.........................................................
