Russian scientists test new drug in Mexican shrimp farms


A team of Russian scientists has developed a drug to treat white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) in shrimp, which was successfully tested in Mexico, where the crustacean epidemic has been a huge problem for several years.

As part of the project, these researchers from Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) developed a formula based on silver nanoparticles, which was injected to treat several young infected shrimp at first and it was proved that just 96 hours later, shrimp survival was over 90 per cent, sputniknews reported.
