Saudi Arabia temporarily bans Egyptian tilapia imports



Although the representative of Egypt’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) last week declared that the country is free from the tilapia lake virus (TiLV), Saudi Arabia’s Environment, Water and Agriculture imposed a temporary ban on Egyptian tilapia imports.

The Saudi government explained that its decision is based on a warning the FAO issued on May 26 in connection with the virus.

For her part, Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Animal, Poultry and Fish Resources Affairs Mona Mehrez said that an official letter was sent to the FAO two months ago, protesting the inclusion of Egypt in....................
