Tassal ‘should not be found in contempt’


of aquaculture inquiry

An Australian senate committee has advised that salmon producer Tassal should not be found in contempt of a 2015 inquiry into the aquaculture industry, reports ABC.

The Standing Committee of Privileges (SCP) investigates conduct that may obstruct the senate's work; in January, the senate voted to refer claims that Tassal representatives had "improperly influenced a witness" to the SCP.

This referral followed allegations aired on the ABC's Four Corners program in November 2016, that Tassal "bought" the silence of Dover farmer Warwick Hastwell who had made a written submission claiming...............................
