Traceability system for farmed shrimp to be implemented next year

The National Commission of Aquaculture and Fisheries (Conapesca), in coordination with the National Service of Agrifood Health, Safety and Quality (Senasica), are developing a national traceability program for shrimp farming in Mexico, with the objective of updating the production, sales and consumption process of this crustacean.

The Computerized Traceability System for Agricultural, Aquaculture and Fishery Goods (SITMA) - which includes an appendix of the shrimp farming chain - will have the function of providing updated information to the productive sector, making it a more profitable activity for producers of shrimp on farms throughout the country, and positioning it in competitive markets abroad.
